As soon as you enter The Meat & Wine Co. overlooking the river at Southbank, it’s apparent that this is no ordinary steakhouse. The Meat & Wine Co wouldn't look out of place in a glossy design magazine, with its contemporary statement décor (and not a mechanical bull in sight). The menu, too, is “a cut above” the ordinary, complementing premium steaks and ribs (aged, basted and grilled to tender, succulent perfection) with a vast selection of fine wines from Australia and abroad. Meat lovers don’t have all the fun, though; equally impressive as the cuts of wagyu and Monte dry-aged are salads, burgers, chicken, native game and seafood dishes like pan seared prawns with eschalots and a creamy Portuguese sauce served with a pilaf of kiffer lime, lemongrass, pearl barley and red quinoa.
