Effusing warmth and charm, the Baden Powell Hotel has been a Collingwood landmark and watering hole for 130 years, and counting. A recent renovation has seen this restaurant/bar stylishly updated, though it pays homage to its heritage with brown chesterfields and handsome vintage chairs. Likewise, the Italian menu nods to both the classic and contemporary, with produce-driven dishes & daily specials carried off simply but admirably. Sharing plates start things off with the likes of chilli dusted calamari served with Sichuan & pomegranate molasses; gourmet pizzas emerge from the oven thin, sprinkled with artisan toppings (say, bresaola, gorgonzola, red onion & thyme) & served with your own pizza slicer & side of chilli oil. Wash it down with one of many boutique beers available.
