The Palace Hotel

The Palace Hotel is located in the heart of the heritage listed city of Broken Hill. This historic hotel is famous for its starring role in the iconic 1994 Australian movie Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Inside, its walls are covered with Renaissance inspired art and fantasy Australian landscape murals painted by indigenous artist Gordon Waye. The building stands on a prominent corner in the heart of the Silver City, spread over three grand floors. Dine at the Side Bar and Restaurant for dinner seven nights a week and for lunch from Thursday to Sunday. Sit out on the verandah for views over Broken Hill’s main street. Or take a seat in the popular Front Bar and meet some of the locals over a meal. The Palace hosts Drag Bingo every Tuesday, an outrageous fun-filled night for the whole family. It is also home to Australia's only year-round two up game – you can have a spin most Fridays from 9pm. It hosts many events during the annual Broken Heel Festival in September, including Priscilla’s Birthday Party.
