Tablelands Family Day Care Scheme

Family Day Care on the Atherton Tablelands commenced operation on 27th April 1987 as the Atherton Family Day Care Scheme with the Atherton Shire Council as Licensee.

The Co-ordination unit, staffed by one co-ordinator, operated out of a single room (with a borrowed table and chair) in the Child Care Centre building situated in Kelly Street.

As the scheme expanded an Administration officer and a second Co-ordinator were employed. Due to the amalgamation of all Tableland Shires in 2008 Tablelands Regional Council became Licensee and the Scheme underwent a name change to become Tablelands Family Day Care Scheme. Today Tablelands Family Day Care is still situated in Kelly Street and employs 4 staff, Manager, Co-ordinator (also contract coordinator based at ingham) and two Administration officers and has Educators in most Tableland towns and areas between Port Douglas and Ingham (Cairns & Kuranda areas not included).
